Alton Walley, a Noongar writer hailing from the South-West of Western Australia
Alton will be participating in The Perth Writer’s Festival on 23 February. He will be talking about a children’s storybook he has written titled, “Chunyart and the Cheeky Parrot.”
Alton is studying Arts at Murdoch university, majoring in Tourism and Australian Indigenous Studies.
He is also an Indigenous cadet with the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority and under the guidance of his elders, Alton has developed a self-guided cultural pathway through King’s Park (Perth) called Boodja Gnarning. The pathway is an exploration of the uses of Australian native plants for medicinal and food purposes.
Alton regularly participates in cultural performances and workshops, and delivers cultural inductions and education programs.
